Holy Rosary School is fortunate to have a wonderful library that is used by all students. It is an important aspect of our school’s commitment to fostering a love and appreciation of reading. Classes enjoy a library session each week with their teacher to share stories, talk about books, have quiet reading time and the opportunity to browse and borrow from our collection. They can borrow up to 5 books for a period of 14 days.
Holy Rosary’s library is open every day for students to access a wide range of materials. The library is also available at the first play break for students who would like to read, to borrow or to participate in quiet, indoor games.
At Holy Rosary, we work to instill a love of reading in all our students. We promote reading everyday in our classrooms and throughout the school. We also provide the opportunity for students to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge annually and we celebrate Book Week.
CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia) promote this event, and it is an exciting opportunity to promote literature and literacy in the classroom and in the library. Students and staff respond enthusiastically to the events of this week
We regularly purchase new books and students can request titles they would most like to read.
Scholastic Book Club
Students have the opportunity to purchase books through Scholastic Book Club and via our annual Book Fair. Up to twice a term, a Club catalogue is sent home with a selection of books offered for all ages.
The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows purchases to be paid by credit card from home. The student’s order is submitted directly to school and the books are delivered to class. Student orders can be placed at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
